Established in May 1970, Barbados Public Workers' Co-Operative Credit Union Limited (BPWCCUL) has since grown to become the island's largest credit union. At March 31, 2016, BPWCCUL held assets in excess of BDS $1.1 billion and served over 86,000 members from its five branches. Members also enjoy the convenience of services deployed through mobile and online channels as well as via a network of partners across the island including CarIFS and SurePay.

BPWCCUL's principal activities are the provision of savings, Investments and credit financing services. It offers its members a wide range of financial products and services including consumer loans, mortgages, lines of credit, savings accounts, term deposits, investment plans, retirement savings, in-house legal services and free financial education. ‍ Membership is open to all residents of Barbados as well as to Barbadian residents overseas.
